Lindsay Muskies 3 - Port Hope Predators 6
|
| Round One, Game Three | |
| February 18th, 2008 in Port Hope | |
| Summary | |
| The Muskies built up a 2-0 lead, and then a 3-2 lead, but were unable to shut down the potent Port hope offence and finally succumbed to a 6-3 loss. Jeff Bayley opened the scoring for Lindsay after 16:46 of the first period assisted by Mike Wills and Trevor Mock. That scoreline stood up until Kevin George scored on a fast break 2:21 into the second period, with Brett Waters and Shayne Taylor picking up the extra points. But the Predators had twice as many shots as the Fish in the second period and it began to show on the scoreboard. By the fourteenth minute they had scored twice to level the scores at 2-2, only to see Kevin George get his second at 18:08 to restore the Lindsay lead. There was still enough time for Port Hope to tie things up again, although the officials had to think long and hard before awarding Tyler Miller a goal.
With the scores tied 3-3, it was a whole new game and the Predators were the ones to emerge from the third period the stronger. Despite being outshot by the Muskies, it was the home team that found the net three more times to take the win. In the end it was a comfortable margin for them, thanks to another goal by Chad Dunlop and a pair for Jessie Chidwick. So every game is now a must-win situation for Lindsay, starting with Wednesday's game four in Minden (8pm) and hopefully continuing the next day back in Port Hope. |
