| Game # 47 | Lindsay Muskies 3 - Wellington Dukes 4 |
| February 3rd, 2008 - in Wellington | |
| Summary | |
| Going into a weekend of three roadtrips in three nights, ending up at the #1 Dukes, everyone knew what a tough challenge this game was going to be. Although the Muskies were finally defeated, they put in a big effort and came back from behind three times, only going down to a powerplay goal in the last two minutes. That was a little ironic since the Muskies' PK had been excellent all night, even denying the Dukes on more than 90 seconds of two man advantage early in the third period with the game tied.
The Dukes got the only goal of the first period, by Zach Morback at 4:58, but the Fish came back well in the second, with Ryan Oliver tying things at 10:25 on a powerplay, assisted by Aaron Keaney and Elliott Richardson. Three minutes later the Dukes regained the lead through Max Bobrow but once again the Muskies responded. It was Ryan Oliver scoring his second of the night against his former team at 18:10, this time assisted by Keaney and Cam Granger. After killing off the two man advantage, Lindsay still found themselves trailing again at the 7:04 mark when Chris Ayotte beat Richard Nerland. The Muskies' powerplay then did its job as they refused to lay down, tying the game for the third time at 11:11. It came from Elliott Richardson, who became the third Lindsay defenceman in as many nights to score his first goal for the club. Cam Granger got his second point of the night with the only assist. When it looked like the Muskies might well record at least a point by taking Wellington beyond the regulation sixty minutes, the Dukes' powerplay finally found its groove, with Kyle Crawford getting the game winner at 18:03. It was the home team's tenth powerplay chance of the game. Clearly coach Meyers was none to pleased with the officials as he picked up an Abuse of Officials minor at the end of the game. |
