| Game # 7 |
Kingston Voyageurs 3 - Lindsay Muskies 1 |
| September 28th, 2007 in Lindsay |
| Summary |
| For the second night running, the Muskies went toe to toe with table-topping Kingston and matched them most of the way. Once again it wasn't until the last part of the third period that the Vees managed to get themselves ahead on the scoreboard and they couldn't really have complained too much if the bounces had gone the other way and the result come out a little different. Richard Nerland again showed what a quality goalie he is, pulling off a series of fine stops, as did Matt Haché at the other end. Kyle Stojsin got the only Lindsay goal early in the first period of a game that was well refereed by Mike Jank. |

| Period 1 |
| Just like last night, the Muskies jumped into an early lead, only to be pegged back by Kingston. At 2:17, Kyle Stojsin found himself with a great chance five feet out and he made no mistake. The assists went to Josh Ruys and Chad Jones. Like last night, the Fish had some chances to add to their lead but instead the Vees came right back when Jacob Wright scored from close in at 8:33. Both teams were given powerplay opportunities but neither team made much of them. The play seemed to go a little flat for the rest of the period and it was fitting that the score was tied at the buzzer. |

| Period 2 |
| There were no further goals in the second period as the two teams cancelled each other out. Excellent goaltending in both nets frustrated the forwards, although each club could consider itself unlucky not to find the twine at least once and there was no lack of excitement for the smaller than usual crowd. The first half of the period was littered with minor penalties which swung the momentum from end to end. |

| Period 3 |
| Once again the third period looked as if it might end up all square but if the Vees have proved one thing this week, it is that they know how to find a way to win the close ones. The two teams seemed to be evenly matched and in the first ten minutes it was the Muskies who came closest to scoring when a shot crashed off the goal post. Sadly hitting the iron doesn't add up on the scoreboard and the difference between the two teams came at 10:58 when a scrap around the Lindsay crease eventually saw the puck being forced past Nerland by Chris Fraser. As they did the night before, the Vees seemed to double their effort once they were ahead and they made it difficult for the Muskies to set up their attacks. But the game wasn't decided until a powerplay goal at 18:37 from David McMullen gave the Voyageurs a two goal cushion. The Fish didn't give up, though, and straight from the restart they got through on goal but were once again kept at bay by Haché, although it took a slash from Ben Munroe to put the Lindsay forward off his shot. With a powerplay, and in the final minute an empty net, the Muskies went looking to close the gap but weren't able to. In fact the scoreline could have got ugly if Jordan Mayer hadn't missed a simple chance at the gaping Lindsay goal. |
